It’s a cold evening.

A man is investigating the ground underneath a lamp post.

A policeman notices and asks the man what is the matter.

“I lost my keys,” says man.

Police officer decides to help with the search for a while. As there is no sign of the keys, police officer enquires:

“Where did you see them last? “

“A couple of blocks down that way”.

“So why are you looking here?”

“Because the light is better here!”

Have you heard this joke or a version of it before? There’s no way you would act this way in real life, right?

What if I told you that we tend to behave just like that man sometimes?

Yes, we lose things,  but that’s not my point. We do what’s convenient or popular even when it won’t bring results. We do the same thing over and over again. Even if it’s illogical. We’re habit creatures.

So it’s good to reflect on our patterns of thoughts and behaviour, see if they are really serving us and if not, upgrade them.

Today we will do that in the light of science!

Quit trying, trying and trying in futility.
    Stop, think and try again.
    Turbocharge your brain.
    Great piece…
